Instructions

  1. Caramelize the Onions:

    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 45 minutes. Set aside.

  2. Sauté the Mushrooms:

    • In another skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Sauté until the mushrooms are tender, about 8-10 minutes. Set aside.

  3. Prepare the Turkey Burgers:

    • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, smoked paprika, garlic powder, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Form the mixture into four patties.

  4. Cook the Turkey Burgers:

    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the turkey patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Remove from heat.

  5. Assemble the Burgers:

    • If using buns, lightly toast them. Place a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato on the bottom bun (or lettuce wrap), then add the turkey patty. Top with caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms. Add any additional condiments as desired. Top with the other half of the bun or another lettuce leaf.

  6. Serve:

    • Serve immediately and enjoy this healthy and flavorful turkey burger.
